Skills and Competencies

• Demonstrated hands-on expertise designing, building, and managing scalable data streaming pipelines using technologies such as Kafka, MongoDB, PostgreSQL and Databricks
• Strong knowledge of data management frameworks including metadata management, data integration and ETL/ELT processes
• Proven ability to implement data quality frameworks, monitor data integrity and resolve data reliability issues
• Experience leading and developing diverse, high-performing data engineering teams
• Ability to align data engineering initiatives with broader organizational strategy and business objectives
• Skilled in managing multiple complex projects concurrently with a focus on timely delivery and high-quality outcomes
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills enabling collaboration across technical and non-technical teams
• Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Proven ability to implement AI-powered solutions to solve business challenges. Demonstrates a growing awareness of AI risk management and a commitment to responsible and ethical AI use

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related field

Responsibilities

Lead Moody’s Data Estate Engineering team in designing scalable, modern data platforms and streaming solutions that power enterprise-wide analytics:

• Lead the design, development and deployment of robust and scalable data streaming pipelines
• Drive a DataOps mindset by implementing CI/CD practices, real-time monitoring and data observability for reliable data workflows
• Champion data management and data quality efforts ensuring data accuracy, consistency and compliance
• Support and maintain legacy data engineering applications to ensure continuity and compliance
• Lead modernization initiatives to sunset legacy systems and transition to modern cloud-based data platforms
• Develop and execute migration strategies that minimize business disruption and maximize value
• Collaborate with Data Science, Analytics, Product and IT teams to align data engineering solutions with business needs
• Build, mentor and manage a high-performing data engineering team while fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
• Oversee evaluation and adoption of modern data technologies, tools and best practices
• Monitor, troubleshoot and optimize data pipelines for reliability, performance and cost efficiency
• Effectively communicate complex engineering concepts and project updates to stakeholders and executive leaders
