Responsible for ensuring data quality, consistency, and usability across Corporate Services by acting as a bridge between business and technical teams. The role leads data governance efforts—standardizing definitions, managing metadata and lineage, supporting platform adoption, and documenting processes to enable data modernization and compliance.

We are seeking a skilled Data Steward to ensure the quality, consistency, and usability of data assets across Morgan Stanley's Corporate Services. This role is pivotal to our data governance efforts and serves as a bridge between business and technical teams to support data modernization initiatives.

In the Corporate Services division, we empower our businesses by creating collaborative workplace solutions and commercial services that enhance the employee and client experience, while optimizing the value of our sourcing and third-party lifecycle to enable the Firm to do-and-win business. This is a Director level position within the Business Information Services, which specializes in providing and maintaining business information services for the Firm, including front-office research and analytics, data product management, management of data services, data storage, and conducting research related projects.

Embedded within a business function such as Real Estate or Corporate Security, you will coordinate with subject matter experts across Corporate Services. Key responsibilities include defining and prioritizing use cases, standardizing data definitions, and enforcing governance policies. You will also support the adoption of new platforms, ensure compliance, and contribute to the development of data ontologies and semantic models.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, completeness, and consistency throughout the modernization project.

  • Act as or coordinate with the subject matter experts (SMEs) for business processes and data domains within Corporate Services

  • Standardize definitions, metrics, and business rules across systems to support unified reporting and analytics.

  • Support data governance and compliance by enforcing policies, managing metadata, and ensuring regulatory requirements are met.

  • Identify and resolve data-related issues, collaborating with cross-functional teams to minimize risk and rework.

  • Document business processes, data flows, and dependencies to support migration and ongoing operations.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • At least 6 years of experience as a Data Steward or SME and a Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

  • Proven experience developing and maintaining data ontologies, taxonomies, and semantic modeling in enterprise environments.

  • Possess or gain a deep understanding of business processes and data domains relevant to the division.

  • Strong knowledge of data governance, data quality, and compliance best practices.

  • Experience with metadata management, data lineage, and master data management.

  • Experience with business intelligence tools, automation platforms, and AI/ML use cases is a plus.
