The Data Engineer Associate will work in a fast-paced environment to establish new data feeds with custodian banks and data vendors and to centralize and automate data integration. You will build data pipelines, evaluate new APIs, and use internal tools to manipulate and migrate investment data into MSCI's Platform, while collaborating with other teams. The role requires 1-3 years of experience in data engineering, data analysis, or finance, with proficiency in SQL and Python. Knowledge of Snowflake, Dremio, Apache Airflow, and cloud platforms is a plus, and the position offers growth opportunities within a global data team.

Your Team Responsibilities

The Data Engineer will work in a fast-paced environment, engaging with a variety of investment and technology professionals inside and outside the firm. Primary responsibilities include establishing new data feeds with banks and data vendors, and supporting the growth of the Firm by centralizing and automating integration processes. Data Engineers demonstrate a high attention to detail, confidence, and entrepreneurial mindset. Candidates should be comfortable working in a team environment, while also juggling multiple priorities on tight deadlines.

Your Key Responsibilities

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Establish data feeds with custodian banks, data vendors, and other service providers
  • Support senior leadership, clients, and the broader Data Team in executing analyses and providing data-driven answers to questions
  • Fully automate and centralize existing data integration processes
  • Evaluate new APIs and build data pipelines to fetch and integrate their data
  • Use internal proprietary tools to manipulate and migrate investment data into the Platform
  • Interact regularly with other areas of the firm to collaborate on execution of tasks

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • 1-3 years of experience as a Data Engineer, Data Analyst, or Financial Analyst
  • Must be proficient and have experience with SQL and Python
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet reporting deadlines, and demonstrate flexibility with delivery of assignments
  • Eagerness to tackle new or complex problems with the latest tools and technologies
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Finance preferred
  • Knowledge of Snowflake, Dremio, Apache Airflow, Microsoft Azure, or AWS is a plus
  • Familiarity with modern AI tools and experience with AI-driven development
