General Summary:

As a Qualcomm Software Engineer, you will design, develop, create, modify, and validate embedded and cloud edge software, applications, and/or specialized utility programs that launch cutting-edge, world class products that meet and exceed customer needs. Qualcomm Software Engineers collaborate with systems, hardware, architecture, test engineers, and other teams to design system-level software solutions and obtain information on performance requirements and interfaces.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.

• 2+ years of academic or work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

• 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer, Backend Software Developer, or in a similar role

• Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines

• Solid hands-on experience with Python and AWS analytics technologies, including:

  • AWS Glue

  • Amazon Athena

  • Amazon QuickSight

  • Amazon SageMaker

  • (Experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and Kafka is a plus)

• Experience with Big Data tools, platforms, and architectures, with strong working knowledge of SQL

• Experience building APIs for data access and other web services

• Experience working in very large data warehousing environments

• Solid understanding of data exchange formats and their associated complexities

• Industry experience in software development, data engineering, business intelligence, or data science, with a proven track record of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large datasets

• Prior experience in ML Engineering is a plus

• Ability to manage on‑premises data and integrate it with AWS‑based pipelines

• Ability to collaborate with Wireless Systems / Software engineers and understand the Wireless ML domain

  • Prior experience in the Wireless (5G) domain is a plus

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline

• Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or ECE with a Data Science / Machine Learning specialization

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field and 2+ years of software engineering or related work experience

OR

• Master’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field and 1+ year of software engineering or related work experience

OR

• PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field

• 2+ years of experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.

Develops, creates, and modifies general computer application software or specialized utility programs. Analyzes user needs and develops software solutions. Designs or customizes software for client use with the goal of optimizing operational efficiency.

May analyze and design databases within an application area, working independently or coordinating database development as part of a team. Modifies existing software to correct errors, adapt it to new hardware, or improve performance.

Analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Collaborates with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to design systems and obtain information on project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.

Stores, retrieves, and manipulates data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements. Designs, develops, and modifies software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design decisions.

• Completes assigned coding tasks according to specifications, on time, and without significant errors or bugs

• Adapts to changes and setbacks to manage pressure and meet deadlines

• Collaborates with project team members to accomplish project objectives

• Communicates with the project lead to provide status updates and highlight potential obstacles

• Quickly resolves complex software issues and bugs

• Gathers, integrates, and interprets information from multiple sources to troubleshoot issues and develop solutions

• Seeks input from others and shares ideas on alternative approaches to problem solving

• Participates in technical discussions with tech leads and managers

• Anticipates and communicates issues proactively to maintain open communication within the team

• Makes decisions based on incomplete or evolving specifications and secures required resources to complete tasks

• Prioritizes project deadlines and deliverables with minimal supervision

• Resolves straightforward technical issues and escalates complex issues appropriately

• Writes clear, maintainable code for large features or significant bug fixes to support team collaboration

• Identifies and prioritizes critical tasks for self and junior engineers, remaining focused and resilient in the face of setbacks

• Develops and executes unit tests to ensure feature stability and functionality
