Are you interested in the opportunity to work as a Data Student at RBC? By applying to this job posting, you will be considered for a co-op role as a Data Analyst/Engineer with The Enterprise Chief Controls Office (ECCO). ECCO is a centralized first line of defense (1LOD) group with the goal of embedding a culture of risk ownership and operational excellence to elevate the control environment. They do this by driving consistency and quality of risk practices to minimize loss and regulatory sanction, drive cost efficiencies, and accelerate project execution to enable growth. The Practice Management team serves to coordinate and drive consistency across 1LOD risk identification, controls, issue management, and non-financial-risk management practices.
What will you do?
• Analyze, design, deliver, and implement Business Intelligence projects, with the use of RBC’s analytics tools (i.e. Tableau, databases, AI, python, etc..)
• Ensure that project activities are accomplished within approved time frames, scope, and budgets
• Apply data warehouse concepts and methodologies to various projects
• Utilize the latest technologies available, designing and building data solutions to meet business needs
• Be an active contributor to not only your individual team, but to the RBC development community
• Constantly seek out better ways to do things, new tools, new technologies, new processes
• Work on transformational projects delivering new value
• Work as part of an agile team responsible for end-to-end delivery of business needs
• Use business domain knowledge to independently lead the analytics process to identify valuable and innovative insights
• Promote analytics across the enterprise to enable RBC to become a data-driven organization
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
• Currently enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning
• Leadership acumen and a passion to apply it in a dynamic business environment
• Excellent interpersonal and highly developed communication skills (verbal and written)
• Creative and analytical thinker who is self-driven and capable of working in a fast-paced environment
• Experience or understanding of relational databases and Data Management methodologies (ex. Data Modeling, automation, extract, transform, load)
• Experience or understanding of Data visualization tools (Tableau/PowerBI) to create charts & graphs, advanced formulas
• Programming skills for data analysis (ex. Python, SQL, VBA)
• Ability to data extract, transform, and load processes with a variety of data types
• Ability to perform complex data analysis on large volumes of data and present findings to stakeholders
• Strong MS Office skills – Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
Nice-to-have
• Experience in AI (Ex. Product Owner/Development/Prompt Engineering)
•Proficient in building statistical and algorithmic models with complex and large datasets, including but not limited to: supervised statistical learning, clustering, natural language processing, recommendation systems, times-series analysis, experimental design (A/B testing), data visualization, deep learning
• Knowledge of design, development, and implementation utilizing current analytics technologies and architecture, as well as data warehouse concepts and methodologies
• Relational database concepts and design experience
• Ability to learn and absorb new concepts (in business and in systems) quickly and apply new knowledge

Please note: This posting is for a 4-months Summer 2026 Student placement with a start date of May 2026, and end date of August 2026. In order to be eligible for this 4-months Student position, you must either:
- Be returning back to school after the work term end-date of August 2026 ; or
- If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating in August 2026), you must require the full 4-months work term as a mandatory component to in order to graduate successfully.
