We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with a focus on performance optimization to join SEB Kort in Solna. You will work in a cross-functional international agile team to build, maintain, and optimize scalable, secure data solutions in Azure, supporting card and payment products and a customer-facing BI web application. Responsibilities include optimizing database performance and data models, enhancing non-functional requirements, and contributing to the Data Community of Practice, with attention to code quality, testing, and documentation. SEB Kort is looking for an experienced, technically strong, and driven Data Engineer with performance optimization focus. You are passionate about building robust, secure, and scalable systems and thrive on solving complex technical challenges as well as sharing your knowledge with others. Joining our dynamic international team, you will play a key role in our mission to be the market leader for corporate payments in Europe.  
 
About the role: 
As a Data Engineer, you will be part of a cross-functional international agile team, building and maintaining scalable and secure solutions that support our wide range of card and payment products. You will plan, design, develop, test, and maintain applications together with your agile team. You will be part of an agile team with the objective of supporting a customer facing Business Intelligence web application.
  
Your responsibilities will include: 
- Optimize database performance and integrated data models in our data solution in Azure environment. 
- Optimize integrated data model for customer facing web application based on source data products (data mesh approach)  
- Optimize database performance to meet non-functional requirements (NFRs) 
- Contribute to the Community of Practice for Data 
- Ensuring high standards in code quality, testing, documentation, and system performance  
- Taking an active role in sharing your knowledge, mentoring, supporting stakeholders and contributing to improving customer experience  
 
Who you are 
We believe you are an experienced Data Engineer with strong performance optimization skills who
combines strong technical skills with excellent communication ability. You are a problem-solver, team player, and systems thinker who takes initiative and contributes to the bigger picture, always with the customer in mind.  
Who we are looking for:
  • Experienced in performance optimization of data models in the context of reporting with large amounts of data  
  • A completed degree in Computer Science or a comparable qualification 
  • Several years of experience in optimization of data solutions and data modelling (normalization, star schema, data vault) 
  • Excellent knowledge in SQL and of relational databases (preferable Azure) 
  • Experience with concepts of non-transactional SQL systems (Impala, Trino, Spark, Hive) 
  • Knowledge of dbt and of columnar storage (Azure db SQL) 
  • Experience with git and Jenkins 
  • Practical experience with DevOps and agile methodologies is a must 
  • Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes is beneficial 
  • Knowledge of Java, Python is beneficial 
  • Fluency in English
