The Data Center Engineer will manage and maintain Virtu's equipment in designated New Jersey data centers. Responsibilities include rack mounting and cabling of servers, switches and other hardware, as well as troubleshooting server hardware and connectivity issues. The role involves shipping/receiving equipment, coordinating with co-lo technicians and third-party vendors, and working with the Datacenter team; hours are 2 pm to 10 pm. Must be able to travel to data centers within the area and lift up to 50-60 lbs.

THE ROLE

Virtu's Global IT team is looking for a dependable and diligent Data Center Engineer. The Data Center Engineer will be responsible for all management and maintenance of Virtu's equipment within our designated data centers in the New Jersey area. The main responsibilities of the Data Center Engineer include rack mounting & cabling of servers, switches and other Virtu hardware in line with Virtu standards, as well as troubleshooting all server hardware and connectivity issues.

Summary of Duties:

  • Rack mounting of servers, switches, other hardware
  • Cabling of servers, switches (copper, twinax, fiber)  
  • Troubleshoot server, storage, network hardware issues & work with the rest of the IT engineers
  • Troubleshoot copper and fiber connectivity issues
  • Shipping and receiving of equipment and parts at data centers
  • Work with Datacenter co-lo technicians & open Smart Hands tickets when necessary
  • Work with third party Vendor (such as Dell, HP) technical support when necessary 
  • Hours: 2 pm - 10 pm

THE CANDIDATE

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing equipment in a data center
  • Experience with Dell and HP Servers, Arista and Cisco switches
  • Able to lift 50-60 lbs
  • Diligent and has great attention to detail
  • Great communication and teamwork skills
  • Able to work off hours when necessary (late hours and weekends)
  • Have a car and able to travel to data centers within the area
  • Familiar with Linux, TCP/IP, Git, Jira/Confluence (desired, not required) 


Salary Range: $100,000 - $115,000 (salary range is exclusive of bonuses, benefits or other categories of compensation)
