Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Systems Operations Engineer for the Chief Technology Office, within the File Transmission Services (FTS) group, to manage a large Managed File Transfer platform. The role leads and participates in maintaining installed systems and infrastructure, aims to increase efficiency, and ensures high availability by analyzing operational tools and collaborating with vendors. It involves log analysis (e.g., Splunk), working with multiple file transfer protocols, and proposing improvements to business workflows with a risk and governance mindset. The position requires strong communication with customers and internal teams and may involve on-site work in a hybrid schedule.

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Systems Operations Engineer for the Chief Technology Office. This position within the FTS (File Transmission Services) group will be responsible for file transmission management activities involving internal and external customers for a large Managed File Transfer (MFT) platform.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead or participate in managing all installed systems and infrastructure within the Systems Operations functional area
  • Contribute in increasing system efficiencies and lowering the human intervention time on related tasks
  • Review and analyze moderately complex operational support systems, application software, and system management tools to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Work with vendors and other technical personnel for problem resolution
  • Lead team to meet technical deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of technical process controls or standards
  • Collaborate with vendors and other technical personnel to resolve technical issues and achieve highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Discuss and explain technical information over email and phone in a professional manner
  • Will be digesting detailed log files either manually or via an application such as Splunk
  • Analyze business workflows and recommend improvements while having a risk, compliance, & governance-based mindset
  • Work on file transmission clients and libraries


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 1+ years of experience supporting multiple file transfer protocols - FTPS, SFTP, NDM, AS2.
  • 1+ years with a role requiring customer communication via phone and email


Desired Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience with databases (Oracle, SQL or MongoDB) or OS (Linux and Windows Server)
  • 1+ years of experience with monitoring /alarming tools (Splunk or Application Dynamics)
  • 1+ years of Managed File Transfer (MFT) support products like Axway, IBM Sterling
  • 1+ years scripting experience such as VBA, VBS, JavaScript, Python, Bash.
  • Proven history of analytical skills
  • Microsoft Office suite and reporting experience
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence / Analytics tools (Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)

  • This position currently offers a hybrid work schedule
  • Ability to work on-site at posted location
