Senior Manager leading a cross-functional software engineering and validation team to build, optimize, and validate ROCm, RyzenAI software stacks, and AI runtimes for AMD GPU/APU/NPU platforms. Responsible for end-to-end enablement, feature development, integration readiness, performance optimization, validation for physical AI, edge AI, and data-center ROCm deployments. Includes technical leadership, AI software validation, program and people management, and initiatives for physical/edge AI across automotive, robotics, and industrial applications.

WHAT YOU DO AT AMD CHANGES EVERYTHING At AMD, our mission is to build great products that accelerate next-generation computing experiences—from AI and data centers, to PCs, gaming and embedded systems. Grounded in a culture of innovation and collaboration, we believe real progress comes from bold ideas, human ingenuity and a shared passion to create something extraordinary. When you join AMD, you’ll discover the real differentiator is our culture. We push the limits of innovation to solve the world’s most important challenges—striving for execution excellence, while being direct, humble, collaborative, and inclusive of diverse perspectives. Join us as we shape the future of AI and beyond. Together, we advance your career. Senior Manager – ROCm / RyzenAI Software Development & AI Validation Role Overview As a Senior Manager, you will lead a cross‑functional software engineering and validation team chartered with building, optimizing, and validating ROCm, RyzenAI software stacks, and AI runtimes for AMD GPU/APU/NPU platforms. Your organization will drive end‑to‑end enablement, including feature development, integration readiness, performance optimization, and validation for physical AI, embedded/edge AI, and data‑center ROCm deployments. Key Responsibilities 1. Technical Leadership – ROCm & RyzenAI Software Oversee the development and integration of AI software frameworks including ROCm, Tensor runtimes, compiler toolchains, and operator libraries. Guide teams implementing AI‑focused enhancements across GPU, NPU, and hybrid (CPU+NPU+GPU) execution pathways for embedded RyzenAI/APUs. Collaborate with open‑source communities by driving PRs and contributing upstream to AI frameworks such as PyTorch, Triton, vLLM, and SGLang. Ensure robust developer‑facing collateral—tutorials, demos, technical notes—supporting adoption of AMD AI software stacks. 2. AI Software Validation & Quality Lead the definition and execution of end‑to‑end AI model validation spanning ROCm GPUs, RyzenAI APUs (CPU+GPU+NPU), Versal AI Edge, and AMD Instinct accelerators. Oversee validation pipelines for models across CV, NLP, LLMs, and multimodal architectures (e.g., ResNet, YOLO, BERT, Llama). Ensure functional correctness, framework consistency (PyTorch / TensorFlow / ONNX‑RT), and performance characterization (latency, throughput). Own regression automation, accuracy debugging, issue triage and re‑validation cycles. 3. Program & People Management Lead a geographically distributed engineering team executing multi‑component software development programs involving drivers, compilers, libraries, and runtimes. Build technical roadmaps in partnership with architects, HW teams, and product managers. Drive schedule planning and risk management across multiple SW components and hardware dependencies. Influence cross‑org alignment across AI SW, G&E, AIG, embedded platform teams, and external partners. 4. Physical AI & Edge/Embedded AI Initiatives Drive software readiness for physical AI applications—including robotics, industrial automation, autonomous systems—leveraging ROCm, RyzenAI and embedded x86 platforms. Prioritize operator enablement, hybrid execution modes, and device support required for automotive, industrial, and robotics customers. Enable deterministic, real‑time AI pipelines combining GPU, NPU and CPU execution. Preferred Experience & Skills 14+ years in software development with 3–5 years in technical or people leadership roles. Strong hands‑on background with Python, C/C++, Linux toolchains, GPU compute, and AI frameworks. Expertise in ROCm, CUDA, GPU compute optimization, ML compilers, and heterogeneous compute architectures. Experience validating AI workloads, debugging model accuracy, building test plans, and performance analysis. Excellent communication and cross‑functional leadership abilities. Education Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related fields. Why This Role Matters AMD’s expansion into RyzenAI, ROCm, and Physical AI requires leaders who can integrate hardware, software, and AI models into unified, production‑ready systems across data center, edge and embedded markets. This role sits at the core of AMD’s strategy to scale AI capabilities across its heterogeneous compute portfolio. #LI-PK1 Senior Manager – ROCm / RyzenAI Software Development & AI Validation Role Overview As a Senior Manager, you will lead a cross‑functional software engineering and validation team chartered with building, optimizing, and validating ROCm, RyzenAI software stacks, and AI runtimes for AMD GPU/APU/NPU platforms.
