This role supports Vanguard's Personal Investor Risk and Oversight team by transforming complex data into actionable insights that inform risk mitigation and decision-making. The candidate will own executive-level dashboards, perform advanced analyses, and translate findings into compelling narratives for leadership, partnering with cross-functional teams. Responsibilities include building and maintaining the risk health dashboard, designing experiments, analyzing fraud patterns, and modernizing the control data ecosystem. The role requires strong SQL and Python skills, data visualization, and the ability to influence strategy through data and stakeholder management.

This Data Analyst position will play a critical role supporting the Personal Investor Risk and Oversight business by transforming complex data into actionable insights that drive informed decision‑making and risk mitigation. This role requires strong data visualization skills, the ability to translate analytical findings into compelling narratives, and proven stakeholder management across cross‑functional partners. Key initiatives include building and maintaining an executive‑level risk health dashboard, supporting investor choice analysis, designing and evaluating experiments, deepening understanding of fraud patterns within Investor Protection, and modernizing the control data ecosystem. The ideal candidate is comfortable owning ambiguous problem spaces, partnering closely with business leaders, and using data to influence strategy and strengthen investor outcomes.
The ideal candidate has:
  • A deep understanding of or interest to learn about the Personal Investor business

  • Ability to take large disparate data and synthesize actionable insights for leadership consumption

  • Strong technical skill set (SQL, python preferred)

  • Experience with PI enterprise Data

  • Desire & ability to collaborate closely with our business partners to consult & gather requirements

  • Experience in building resilient reporting products (e.g. dashboards)

  • Experience applying advanced analytical techniques in a workplace setting (e.g. predictive modeling)

  • Knowledge of analytic roadmap development in partnership with business stakeholders

Core Responsibilities

  • Engages with internal partners to understand business strategy, questions and goals. Brings structure to business requests, translates requirements into an analytical project approach, and leads complex projects through completion. Delegates tasks and provides tactical and strategic guidance to peers. Serves as the analytics expert on cross-functional teams for large strategic initiatives.

  • Acquires and compiles structured and unstructured data and verifies its quality, accuracy and reasonableness.

  • Performs analyses of historical data to surface trends and insights using advanced analytical methods. Validates analytical techniques employed by other analysts.

  • Prepares and delivers expert level visualizations and internal presentations that translate analytic insights into tangible, actionable solutions for business partners to implement.

  • Develops, owns and manages recurring analytic or reporting processes.

  • Actively develops the analytics community at Vanguard by mentoring, coaching and connecting others with resources and training. Participates and presents during scheduled analytics seminars.

  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of seven years related work experience.

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.

  • Strong technical skills (SQL, Python, Visualization tools)

  • Experience with testing methodologies (test design, results gathering and recommendations build out)
