Lead and manage a team of data analysts and data scientists across diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics initiatives to support data-driven decision making. Direct analytics strategy and contribute to Vanguard's Center for Analytics and Insights (CAI) by building AI-enabled capabilities for the Intelligent Outreach program to improve sales, distribution, client targeting, and opportunity assessments. Manages a team of data analysts and newer data scientists responsible for a portfolio of diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics projects to support data-driven business decision making. Supports the continuous evolution and strategy of Vanguard's data science capabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Oversees and engages in deep dive diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics to support data-driven business decision making. Creates alternative model approaches to assess complex model design and advance future capabilities.
  • Manages a team of data analysts and newer data scientists responsible for a portfolio of diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive analytics projects to support data-driven business decision making. Supports the continuous evolution and strategy of Vanguard's data science capabilities.
  • Identifies and diagnoses data inconsistencies and errors, documents data assumptions, and forages to fill data gaps.
  • Engages with internal stakeholders to understand and probe business processes in order to develop hypotheses. Brings structure to requests and translates requirements into an analytic approach.
  • Guides test design, research design, and model validation. Provides statistical consultation services. Serves as the analytics expert on cross functional teams for large strategic initiatives and contributes to the growth of the Vanguard analytic community.
  • Executes operational plans to achieve department objectives. Collaborates with department or functional heads in planning, developing, and executing near-term goals.
  • Prepares, reviews, and delivers insight presentations and action recommendations. Communicates complex analytical findings and implications to business leaders.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years related work experience in analytical roles.
  • Consultative approach with strong business functional and technical skills
  • Technical skills – AWS, AI / ML, Data Science, Data Wrangling, Statistical Modeling
  • Undergraduate degree in Analytics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or related analytical field of study or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
