Product Data Scientist for Google's Education Data Science team, partnering with Product, Engineering and Business teams to drive data-driven decisions.   • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 8 years of experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, performing statistical analysis, and coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), or 5 years of experience with an advanced degree.

Preferred qualifications:

You'll make critical recommendations for your fellow Googlers in Engineering and Product Management. You relish tallying up the numbers one minute and communicating your findings to a team leader the next.

The Education Data Science team plays a fundamental role in the success of Google for Education, by providing understanding of our business and product performance, and developing insights to help drive strategic decisions.

As a Data Scientist on the team, you will work closely with Product, Engineering and Business teams throughout the entire development process to help build products enjoyed by hundreds of millions of users globally. You will conduct proactive analyses to identify and size new opportunities. You will deliver data-driven insights to help with product strategy and decisions focused on growing the customer base and identifying opportunities to increase business. You will perform an in-depth search to better understand user behavior and how users engage with our products. You will research, develop, and validate metrics to define what success looks like. You will design and analyze experiments to measure the causal effects of product changes and democratize data access through developing dashboards and accurate reporting.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Define, own and evolve product/business success metrics. Report, analyze and forecast trends of key product/business metrics and make recommendations to improve them.
  • Lead the design, analysis, and interpretation of product experiments.
  • Perform data exploration to understand user behavior and identify opportunities for improving and growing Education products. Identify critical business and product functionalities and assess their business impact.
  • Develop analysis, forecasting, and human/auto evaluations to improve the quality of Google's AI/Large Language Model (LLM) products, for example Gemini/NotebookLM use-cases for teachers and students, and live experiments.
  • Apply technical expertise with observational data analysis, modeling, and causal inference to answer the most important product/business questions.
