The Applied Scientist II will join Amazon's Industrial Robotics Group to advance dexterous manipulation technologies and autonomous robotic systems at scale. The role involves designing and implementing manipulation methods, end-effectors with force and tactile sensing, and developing hierarchical control that blends low-level robotics with high-level planning. You will leverage state-of-the-art manipulation models, multi-modal sensor data, and optimization techniques to translate theoretical advances into practical robotic systems. Key job responsibilities
- Design and implement methods for dexterous manipulation
- Design and implement methods for use of dexterous end effectors with force and tactile sensing
- Develop a hierarchical system that combines low-level control with high-level planning
- Utilize state-of-the-art manipulation models and optimal control techniques
Basic Qualifications
- PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience- Experience with state-of-the-art in robotic manipulation models
- Experience with data generation in simulation and real world
- Experience in developing techniques that utilize multi-modal sensor data from the arm and hands
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in Robotics, with focus on dexterous manipulation- Experience in motion primitives, vision-language-action models, and model predictive control
- Experience with robotics frameworks for fast prototyping (Matlab, ROS, etc.)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
