The Senior Applied Scientist will harness planet-scale multi-modal data to build a self-learning price estimation and product understanding system, generating customer-relevant prices for billions of Amazon and Third-Party Seller products worldwide. They will collaborate with researchers, ML experts, and economists to design experiments, explore new algorithms, and improve Seller Pricing to optimize the Customer experience. The role involves designing, building, deploying scalable ML solutions, and establishing automated processes for large-scale data analyses, model development, validation and implementation. Mentoring junior scientists, publishing and presenting work, and partnering with technology and product leaders to solve business problems with scientific approaches to build services that delight customers.
The Senior Applied Scientist will work closely with other research scientists, machine learning experts, and economists to design and run experiments, research new algorithms, and find new ways to improve Seller Pricing to optimize the Customer experience. The Scientist will partner with technology and product leaders to solve business and technology problems using scientific approaches to build new services that surprise and delight our customers.

- Research and use of statistical techniques to create scalable solutions for business problems.
- Design, build, and deploy effective and innovative ML solutions to provide low prices and increased selection for customers using scientifically-based methods and decision making.
- Evaluate the proposed solutions via offline benchmark tests as well as online A/B tests in production.
- Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, validation and implementation.
- Mentor junior applied machine learning scientists & researchers.
- Publish and present your work at internal and external scientific venues.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience- PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
- Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience- Experience with large scale machine learning systems such as profiling and debugging and understanding of system performance and scalability
- Usage of generative AI tools to enhance workflow efficiency, with a willingness to learn effective prompting and evaluation practices
- Ability to recognize opportunities where generative AI could enhance products, workflows, or customer experiences

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
