Join Amazon's Last Mile Planning Pre Station Planning Technology team as a Software Development Engineer II. You will own and deliver highly visible projects that directly impact customer delivery experiences, designing and implementing multi-tier distributed software for demand forecasting, capacity planning, and fleet planning. You will drive technical and architectural direction for planning systems, covering the full software development lifecycle from scoping to testing and deployment, while collaborating across multiple teams in a fast-paced environment. This role blends software engineering with ML/operations research techniques to optimize routes, stations, and capacity for billions of packages.
The Pre Station Planning Technology team is one of the critical teams supporting and enabling Last Mile operations for Amazon Worldwide. We build software for demand forecasting, capacity planning, jurisdiction and topology management and fleet planning among other areas. All of these services help estimate the precise number of stations, vehicles, drivers and routes to deliver billions of packages to customers worldwide and have a high impact on cost as well as deliver efficiency.
We are looking for a SDE with exceptional technical skills and a passion for delivering great software to join our team. As a member of this team, you will be responsible to own and deliver highly visible, innovative projects that directly impact the customer experience. You will be involved in driving the technical and architectural vision for a planning team that touches every Amazon package, as well as all the aspects of the software development cycle including scoping, design, implementation, testing & delivery of our product.
Key job responsibilities
- Define, design, and implement multi-tier distributed software applications.
- Estimate engineering effort, plan implementation, and rollout system changes that meet requirements for functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, and adherence to development goals.
- Must be able to design code and test major features, as well as work jointly with other team members to deliver complex changes.
- Must be able to effectively collaborate in a fast paced environment with multiple teams in a large organization (software development, QA, Project/Release Management, Build and Release, etc.

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 3+ years of Video Games Industry (supporting title Development, Release, or Live Ops) experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
