Join Amazon's Delivery Foundation Model team as a Senior Software Development ML Engineer working on optimization and routing for Last Mile logistics. You will collaborate with research scientists, engineers, and product managers to design and scale machine learning models that generate globally optimal route plans. You will operate at the intersection of software engineering and ML, building tools for operators and advancing routing algorithms in a large distributed computing environment. You will participate in an agile, fast-paced environment where ideas are prototyped, tested, and deployed to improve delivery reliability and efficiency.

Delivery Foundation Model is at the heart of our growing logistics network in Last Mile at Amazon. We’re challenged to constantly improve and innovate on our routing services and tools to better support fast delivery to customers. We are looking for a Senior Software Development ML Engineer with exceptional technical skills and ML/AI background. We have among the most complex logistics problems in the industry, including large, capacitive, commingled, and time window adherence routing problems. We dispatch thousands of drivers a day to carry millions of packages to our customers.

In this role, you will work with research scientists, senior engineers and product managers to build an advanced machine learning model that helps create globally optimal route plans amidst challenge. You will work at the intersection of software engineering and machine learning to deliver a plan that is efficient, fair, and executable. You will learn about optimization, routing algorithms, and building tools for operators to be successful each and every day around the globe. You will work in a fast paced and growing environment, where ideas are prototyped, tested, and implemented.

Key job responsibilities
1. Develop, debug, and scale-up machine learning model(s) with experienced applied ML scientists. Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality solution to partner teams.

2. Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.

3. Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry.

4. Focus on maintaining system health to improve and manage OE.

Basic Qualifications

- 6+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- 5+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
