The Intern Data & Risk Analyst will join AXA's Nat Cat Data & Analytics team to support loss modelling for business interruption during natural catastrophe events. They will review literature, develop tools and methods to model BI losses (e.g., floods, windstorms), calibrate vulnerability curves, and produce detailed technical documentation. The role also involves analyzing AXA's historical BI risks and claims to inform the calibration framework and applying data analytics best practices to assess data accuracy and reliability. The position offers exposure to risk modelling, data science techniques, and collaboration with R&D teams across multiple locations.

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSABILITIES: - Group Risk Management AXA GRM brings together high level and multidisciplinary staff with engineers, PhDs, actuaries, data scientists and financials split between Paris, Hong Kong, Zürich and Madrid. Its main missions are focused on the following key areas. develop and maintain models and tools in an efficient and strong IT ecosystem to industrialize deliverables. analyze, model and aggregate the P&C Group’s risks (economic capital); define and implement the process enabling to secure the undertaken risks (risk appetite, assets accumulation, reserve, premium, natural catastrophe and man-made risks...); Optimize the Group protections (reinsurance, securitization, hedging, etc.) to meet the desired strategy What You’ll Do The NAT CAT DATA & Analytics team widely interacts with R&D Modeling team (in charge of developing internal CAT models) and other stakeholders. The Intern Data & Risk Analyst will have to primarily focus on the review of literature and techniques on the loss modelling related to interruption of the business activities during NAT-CAT events. The intern will actively contribute to this effort by: Developing innovative tools, techniques and method to model business interruption (BI) losses during natural catastrophes (e.g., flood, windstorm, etc.). Conducting scientific reviews on the BI modelling. Proposing method(s) to use the findings about the BI loss modelling, in the calibration of vulnerability curves. Producing comprehensive technical documentation Analyzing the value of risks and historical claims of AXA on the business interruption and how they could be integrated into the calibration framework. Implementing data analytics best-practices to assess the data accuracy and reliability of claims. YOUR PROFILE - Who You Are Education • Engineering or master’s degree in relevant field (engineering, natural hazards, actuarial science, applied maths) Technical & Professional Skills • Solid programming skills (R/Python, and Excel) • Excellent knowledge of statistics and probability • Strong problem-solving skills and keen attention to detail. • French and Business English – fluent (spoken and written) • Experience with writing documentation (e.g., git).
