BNY Mellon is seeking an Associate in Pricing/Data/Deal Modelling & Analytics II based in Chennai to produce, analyze and communicate fixed income performance attribution (using MSCI BarraOne/Bloomberg PORT), investigate queries, and engage with fund managers and stakeholders. The role requires deep fixed income attribution expertise, strong performance calculation skills, advanced Excel, and ideally some Python/coding knowledge to support analytics and process debugging.

We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Associate, Pricing/Data/Deal Modelling & Analytics II to join our team. This role is located in Chennai, TN.

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Production, analysis and communication of performance attribution (Fixed Income) numbers generated from MSCI BarraOne/Bloomberg PORT.
  • Provide detailed explanations to fund managers on performance numbers, with a strong focus on fixed income attribution numbers
  • Ensure that queries are investigated appropriately and resolved satisfactorily within specified timeframes
  • Foster and maintain successful relationships between the team, its stakeholders and our outsourced providers
  • Maintain strong and regular contact with fixed income fund managers. Building trust and strong relationships with the fund managers and fixed income product specialists is key to the success of this role
  • Lead periodic meetings with portfolio managers to understand their requirements and help to implement solutions
  • Pro-active analysis and monitoring of performance results to identify issues and sources of success

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • 5 plus years of Investment Performance and Attribution experience
  • Strong working knowledge of Fixed Income Attribution and varying models used
    • Detailed understanding of underlying analytics used to drive attribution results
    • In depth knowledge of calculations determining attribution effects, including parallel / non-parallel shifts of yield curves, spread changes, allocation and selection effects, across all asset types including derivatives
    • Demonstrable examples of adapting and customising attribution to reflect portfolio management decisions
  • Strong working knowledge of performance calculations
  • Understanding of a wide range of instrument types would be advantageous, including derivatives
  • Understanding of trade life cycle and investment management process
  • Be able to demonstrate skills in the understanding and debugging of processes and methodologies
  • Advanced excel spreadsheet skills required
  • Python / coding knowledge desirable
  • Excellent organisational, prioritisation and communication skills (both written and oral) required
  • Proactive and flexible approach required – the individual will use their skills and experience to fully develop the role
  • An ability to maintain and foster relationships outside of normal reporting lines required
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Operates with professionalism, honesty and integrity at all times
