The Strategy Analyst will support the GenAI Business Strategy and Transformation team by providing data-driven insights and collaborating with various stakeholders to accelerate GenAI adoption across the firm. The role involves quantifying business value, advising on optimization, and fostering a culture of responsible AI innovation.

The D. E. Shaw group seeks a proactive and curious strategy analyst to join its GenAI Business Strategy and Transformation (GAIBiz) team. GAIBiz accelerates GenAI adoption and opportunity identification across the firm by providing a commercial, human-centered perspective that complements technology and markets expertise. This role will support leadership on GenAI investments and priorities with rigorous, data-driven insights, while getting the chance to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, help build the team and function within the company, and foster a culture of innovation and responsible AI adoption in a thoughtful and engaging environment.

What you’ll do day-to-day

• Quantify the business value of current and emerging technologies, products and end-to-end services, as well as new GenAI initiatives by forecasting ROI, tracking performance metrics, and building benchmarking dashboards across business units.
• Conduct scenario analysis, develop visualizations, and translate technical findings into actionable business recommendations.
• Advise teams on optimization levers, support cost and performance tuning, and help embed key metrics into governance processes.
• Collaborate closely with program managers, as well as innovation and design teams, to provide ad hoc analytics and support data-driven decision-making.

Who we’re looking for

  • A bachelor’s degree is required along with at least five years of experience in analytics, strategy, investing, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate data-driven insights, build evaluation frameworks, and communicate complex technical findings to senior stakeholders through clear, impactful visualizations and dashboards.
  • Experience with GenAI is highly valued; candidates without direct GenAI experience should possess an impressive skillset in a relevant area such as analytics, consulting, or technical strategy, along with demonstrated interest in GenAI.
  • The expected annual base salary for this position is $150,000 to $250,000. Our compensation and benefits package includes variable compensation in the form of a year-end bonus, guaranteed in the first year of hire, and benefits including medical and prescription drug coverage, 401(k) contribution matching, wellness reimbursement, family building benefits, and a charitable gift match program.

The D. E. Shaw group is an equal opportunity employer.

The applicable annual base salary or hourly rate paid to a successful applicant will be determined based on multiple factors, including without limitation the nature and extent of prior experience and educational background.

European Union (EU), United Kingdom (UK), California, Hong Kong, Singapore, or Shanghai candidates should refer to the corresponding linked privacy notice.
