Overview

The Business Intelligence Unit (BIU) assists Deutsche Bank in appropriately assessing and framing the financial crime risks associated with sensitive clients and transactions. BIU acts as an in-house advisory function to stakeholders across the Business, control functions, and global and regional management. The research is based upon a range of credible data sources and analysis by a centralized team of multilingual researchers and analysts. BIU additionally carries out research and analysis on a diverse range of topics with potential financial crime or other impacts to the Bank. This includes analysis of sensitive industries, emerging markets, and geopolitical, social, or other emerging risks, all with the purpose of enriching Deutsche Bank’s decision-making process and enhancing the Bank’s control environment, The work of the BIU function draws on the regional expertise of its multilingual team members, which have extensive experience in political risk analysis and intelligence gathering.

What You’ll Do

  • Promote and expand the BIU’s corporate and risk intelligence services across the Bank by delivering timely, accurate research and reporting, including enhanced counterparty due diligence, sector reviews, geopolitical trend analysis, and other ad hoc topics of concern

  • Support the Regional Head of the Business Intelligence Unit Americas with timely reporting and advisory services, including sector-specific reviews and ad hoc macroeconomic trend analysi

  • Serve, where appropriate, as a key point of contact and Subject Matter Expert on regional developments and financial crime risks linked to sensitive clients for business and control function stakeholders

  • Assist in preparing periodic Management Information for the Americas region and identify, establish, and maintain a database of accessible, reliable Business Intelligence resources

  • Lead research into potential political, reputational, and financial crime risks related to clients and transactions across the Americas, acting as a primary contact for such assessments

  • Provide administrative and linguistic support to the Regional Head or senior team members through comprehensive reviews of local-language sources, evaluation of new information sources, and demonstrate a proactive, “can-do” attitude with exemplary communication skills to support the BIU’s long-term success

Skills You’ll Need

  • Strong regional expertise in the Americas, with professional experience preferred; fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese essential

  • Excellent analytical and report-writing skills, with the ability to critically assess information from public sources

  • Solid understanding of regional political and socio-economic dynamics, with prior experience or academic focus on Latin America preferred.

  • Proficient in using diverse external data sources and third-party systems to support due diligence processes

  • Experience in business intelligence or a similar role within a financial institution preferred, including exposure to financial crime risk reviews (financial services experience desirable but not required)

Skills That Will Help You Excel

  • Strong team player with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including Spanish and/or Portuguese proficiency

  • Ability to work independently while confidently engaging with senior management

  • Strong analytical and presentation skills

  • Extensive report-writing experience, with the ability to clearly articulate complex arguments and confidently present and defend research findings to diverse stakeholders

Expectations

It is the Bank’s expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $65,000 to $105,500. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications.
