16-week full-time internship within HSBC's Corporate and Institutional Banking, offering hands-on exposure to real projects, financial analysis, and cross-team collaboration. Interns will build analytical skills, work with data and financial tools (e.g., Excel/VBA, Python, Qlik Sense, Power BI), and support creation of presentations, reports and risk/financial assessments.

Why join us?

Our internship programs give you a real-life insight into a future career. Like what you see and perform well, and you’ll be offered the opportunity to join us.

Your journey kicks off our experts to give you the technical know-how to hit the ground running. By the end of the internship, you’ll have a solid understanding of the Corporate and Institutional Banking, how it all fits together, and where you could make your mark.

We’re looking for people who love building connections, supporting others, and making a real impact. You don’t need to know everything about banking – bring your curiosity and drive, and we’ll help with the rest.

If you’re the kind of person who gets a buzz from helping others succeed – and loves the idea of being part of your clients’ story – we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll do:

  • From day one, you’ll be part of a dedicated team - work alongside experienced colleagues, and gain exposure to real projects that impact our clients.
  • You won’t just be watching from the sidelines – you’ll be learning by doing, contributing to meaningful work, and developing skills that will stay with you throughout your career.

Here’s a taste of what you’ll get involved in:

Work with specialist teams: See how our managers partner with experts across the bank to grow client relationships and deliver tailored financial solutions.

  • Build your analytical skills by breaking down complex problems and making sense of numbers, data, and trends – with a sharp eye for detail and accuracy.
  • See collaboration in action: Experience how we work across teams, geographies, and functions, including Legal, Credit, and Risk, to deliver for our clients.
  • Get hands-on with real tasks: You’ll help create presentations, reports, and finance related papers; support strategic reviews and pitches; and conduct financial analysis and risk assessments.
  • Get confident using the tools the industry relies on – like financial modelling platforms, data dashboards, and market intelligence tools – so you can turn complex information into clear, compelling insights.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Available to work full time internship for 16 weeks commencing from Jan 2026 - Feb 2026.
  • Currently enrolled in undergraduate or postgraduate program in Computer Applications / IT / Finance / Accounting / Banking / Management / Economics or business equivalent to this.
  • Additional requirement for Data Analytics roles: Knowledge in Excel Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Phyton, Qlik sense, Power BI.
  • In your final or penultimate year of studies, expected to graduate in 2026 or early 2027.
  • Obtained, or expected to achieve, a GPA of at least 4.0 / 5.0 or 3.2 / 4.0 or 2nd class upper (as appears on your official university transcript or degree certificate), or overseas equivalent to this.
  • Right to work in Malaysia without requirement for sponsorship.
  • Working Hour: Between 10AM - 8PM.

What you will need to succeed in the role:

  • Clear communicator: You know how to break down complicated information and explain it in a way that makes sense – in person, in writing, and over email. You can share your point of view confidently, and you listen well too.
  • Analytical thinking – You enjoy working with numbers, spotting patterns, and paying attention to the details. Whether it’s reviewing data or checking for formatting issues, you’ve got a sharp eye and a methodical approach.
  • A team player: You work well with others, pitch in when it counts, and your colleagues know they can count on you. Collaboration is everything – we succeed together.
  • Fast-paced and detail-oriented: You can juggle different tasks, and work well under pressure, paying attention to detail and adapting when priorities shift.
  • Always learning: Markets change all the time, and so do we. You’re curious, adaptable, and always up for learning something new – whether that’s exploring a fresh topic or rethinking the way something’s done.
