The goal of GTAR is to design and conduct research across multiple frontier technologies, in order to enable novel discoveries and inventions, and to inform and develop next-generation solutions for the firm’s clients and businesses.
As a Quantum Computing Research Scientist within The Global Technology Applied Research (GTAR), you will develop and scale up high-performance numerical methods to advance the study of quantum algorithms, quantum cryptography, and quantum compilation.
Job responsibilities
- Develop numerical methods for exact and approximate simulation of quantum circuits and dynamics of quantum systems
- Scale up numerical methods on HPC clusters and supercomputers
- Perform large-scale simulations and document the results in scientific papers.
- Implement, maintain, and manage a codebase of quantum simulation techniques.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Ph.D. degree in computer science, physics, math, engineering or related fields, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in using GPUs in numerical simulation of quantum systems
- Experience running simulations on many parallel nodes on HPC clusters or supercomputers
- Experience in numerical study of quantum algorithms or systems and documenting the results in scientific papers
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience developing a successful research program focused on numerical study of quantum algorithms
- Experience with tensor network methods (e.g. MPS, PEPS)
- Knowledge of quantum algorithms for financial problems (e.g., optimization, risk analysis)
- Knowledge of error correction
