The AVP - Digital Finance & AI Risk Management leads embedded risk expertise across AI and Digital Finance within Moody's Digital Economy team. The role identifies, assesses, mitigates, and monitors operational and technology risks across AI models, platforms, and digital finance tools, and partners with business units and the 2nd Line of Defense to ensure controls are effectively implemented and governed. Responsibilities include maintaining documentation in GRC systems, developing KRIs, providing risk governance updates, and driving continuous improvement of risk processes and training for business teams. The role requires collaborating with technology and vendor teams to address risks in platforms, models, and data usage, ensuring alignment with enterprise risk policies.

Skills and Competencies

  • At least five years of experience specific to Technology governance, risk and control, self-assessment, identifying and evaluating control measures, and compliance with financial services, particularly in AI and digital finance.
  • Experience in Open Pages or other GRC tools and broader MS Office suite products.
  • Clear Thinker with strong analytical skills to review complex processes. 
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently with or without direction and/or supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with a diverse, global, and cross-functional team and led large-scale projects. 
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask, flexibility and adaptability in work approach.
  • Broad-based technology experience, ideally with digital finance and AI included, at substantial scale and complexity in a global, highly regulated environment.
  • Strong background in navigating product or tool development, specifically focusing on technology and data.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships between business and technical stakeholders.
  • Evaluating and prioritizing strategic initiatives, balancing the needs of different stakeholders, and driving alignment, particularly in areas like digital finance, AI, technology, and data.

Education

  • B.S. in a technology discipline (Computer Science, Information Management, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security or equivalent).
  • Relevant certification is desirable, e.g., CISSP, CISM, CISA. Working knowledge of Risk Management life cycles based on established frameworks: NIST, ORX, ISO 27001.

Responsibilities

The AVP is a key member of the 1st Line of Defense (1LOD) within Digital Economy Risk, providing embedded risk expertise across AI and Digital Finance. The role is responsible for identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring critical risks associated with the use of AI, blockchain technologies, cyber risks, and emerging technologies. The AVP partners with business units, technology teams, shared services, and the 2nd Line of Defense (2LOD) to ensure risks are proactively assessed, controls are effectively implemented and maintained, and business decisions consistently align with governance standards and Moody’s Ratings risk policies.

  • Implement and maintain risk controls for digital finance and AI processes as first line of defense (1LOD) for Digital Economy team.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate operational and technology risks across AI models, platforms, and digital finance tools.
  • Collaborate with business units to embed risk management practices into day-to-day operations and ensure compliance with governance standards.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of controls, risk assessments (RCSAs), and mitigation plans in GRC systems.
  • Monitor emerging risks in AI and digital finance, escalate issues promptly, and ensure timely remediation.
  • Develop and track Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and ensure adherence to tolerance levels.
  • Support risk governance by preparing updates for committees/forums and ensuring alignment with enterprise risk policies.
  • Provide training and guidance to business teams on AI and digital finance risk management practices.
  • Partner with technology and vendor teams to address risks in platforms, models, and data usage.
  • Drive continuous improvement in risk processes to reduce complexity and enhance efficiency.
  • Develop, review, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure alignment with regulatory, risk and compliance requirements
  • Ensure all risk activities are accurately maintained in the GRC tool, with complete, timely, and reliable data to support effective monitoring and reporting.
