Join MSCI's Model Validation team in Budapest to conduct applied research and evaluate MSCI analytics for real-world investment problems. Develop both conceptual and practical understanding of MSCI analytics, applying models to client challenges and publishing research on market and regulatory developments. Drive model validation standards, support go-to-market and sales with empirical analyses, and advise clients on modeling choices to identify new commercial opportunities.

Your Team Responsibilities

MSCI is looking for an exceptional individual to join the Model Validation team in Budapest. The team carries out applied research and acts as a key internal client of MSCI analytics, supporting the go-to-market of new analytical models and advising clients on the most effective modeling choices for their specific investment problems.

The team is responsible for understanding MSCI analytics inside and out, from both a conceptual and a practical perspective. To do this, the team critically evaluates the models and applies them to real-world investment problems. The team plays a critical role in enhancing the quality of models, driving product strategy, and supporting sales of new models. As internal clients, the team provides modeling recommendations backed by empirical analysis to support individual clients and publish applied research.

The group works closely with research, product management, and sales teams. In addition the group regularly interacts with clients directly, including in-person consultations.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough conceptual and practical understanding of MSCI analytics by applying them to realistic investment management problems
  • Use this understanding to drive new sales and client adoption, establish model validation standards, and identify new opportunities for model and product innovation
  • Conduct and publish applied research on market and regulatory developments related to the effective application of MSCI analytics
  • Engage with clients in an advisory capacity; identify new commercial opportunities

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual with strong quantitative, programming and problem solving skills as well as a deep interest in financial modeling.
  • Meticulous attention to detail plus the ability to effectively communicate at a high-level to varied audiences.
  • Advanced degree (Master or PhD) in finance, physics, mathematics, statistics, operations research, economics or another quantitative discipline.
  • A background in finance or experience in designing, implementing and testing quantitative models is desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Time management skills including the ability to handle multiple projects.
