We are seeking a Senior AI Research Scientist for Robotics Digital Twins to join NVIDIA's Quantum & Chemistry group, collaborating with the Seattle Robotics Lab and Eli Lilly. In this role you will research at the frontier of Laboratory Automation and Robotics Digital Twins and help develop, expand, and strengthen the Matterix software tool. You will explore integration of digital twins with AI agents and science experiments and develop a framework for laboratory digital twin science integrated with NVIDIA tools, in collaboration with software engineers. You will also work with collaborators to solve science problems and participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior AI Research Scientist with experience in Robotics to join the Quantum & Chemistry group. As the team member, you will be part of the development effort of a digital twin for chemical, biological and physical laboratories. This will be a collaboration with our Seattle Robotics Lab and Eli Lilly and Company.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Research at the frontier of Laboratory Automation and Robotics Digital Twins.

  • Develop, expand and strengthen the capabilities of the Matterix software tool (https://www.nature.com/articles/s43588-025-00924-4).

  • Research on approaches for the integration of digital twins with AI agents and science experiments.

  • Developing a framework for laboratory digital twin science that is integrated with NVIDIA tools in collaboration with software engineers.

  • Solve science problems with our collaborators.

  • Participating in code reviews, technical design discussions, and continuous improvement activities within the team

What We Need to See:

  • A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) or a domain science such as Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science.

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in AI research for robotics.

  • Experience with robotics digital twins.

  • Strong understanding of software design patterns, architectural principles, and standard methodologies in complex distributed systems

  • Experience working with both Linux and Windows operating systems

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking, with the ability to deliver high-quality code and resilient services

  • Excellent communication skills with an ownership-driven attitude

  • Python proficiency

Ways to Stand Out from the Crowd:

  • Familiarity with USD, URDF, MJCF, and CAD formats

  • Knowledge and experience of software digital twins

  • Experience in IsaacSim and/or IsaacLab
