Summary:
Qualcomm is recruiting a Customer Engineer for Software Applications Engineering to collaborate with application vendors in integrating advanced AI models tailored for Qualcomm chipsets' NPU engines. Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred alongside experience in embedded platforms, proficiency with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow, and strong programming capabilities in C/C++ and Python. Key responsibilities include deploying computer vision and language models on edge AI platforms, developing comprehensive inference applications, supporting internal teams, and driving innovation in AI tools and technologies, including GenAI model fine-tuning and optimization of AI workloads for customer platforms.

As a Qualcomm Customer Engineer, you will work collaboratively with leading application vendors to integrate sophisticated AI models that operate efficiently on Qualcomm chipset NPU engines. This role provides exposure to Qualcomm’s state-of-the-art CPU, GPU, and NPU architecture, as well as industry-leading ML/AI acceleration capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, AI/ML or a relevant field
Over 3+ years of experience working with embedded platforms
Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or other machine learning frameworks
Proficiency in ML/MLOps for AI application development and deployment
Advanced programming skills in C/C++ and Python
Familiarity with supervised and unsupervised machine learning, computer vision, NLP, and LLM architectures
Demonstrated analytical capability
Quick learner with a robust technical background, strong problem-solving ability, and customer focus
Experience in software architecture and design patterns
Knowledge of architectural approaches for large-scale software applications
Previous customer-facing experience is advantageous
Exposure to fine-tuning GenAI models and reinforcement learning considered a plus
Expertise in inference accuracy, throughput optimization, and edge deployment highly desirable
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Deploy and optimize computer vision models, LLMs, VLMs, and VLAs on ADAS and Cockpit Edge AI platforms
Design and implement end-to-end inference applications for customer platforms
Coordinate project planning and ensure timely, high-quality deliverables
Train and support internal teams in resolving technical issues
Participate in cross-departmental initiatives to address complex technical challenges
Contribute to continuous development and innovation in tools, technologies, and user experiences
Assist in the design, development, and integration of GenAI and LLM applications
Support implementation of fine-tuning and distillation techniques
Conduct ML model benchmarking and functional analysis to inform requirements and specifications
Facilitate customer engagement by optimizing and deploying AI models and workloads
Collaborate with team members and other groups to complete project tasks, verify system functionality, and implement new features
Generate innovative ideas for products or feature areas
Lead system-level problem triage to identify root causes and communicate testing/debugging results to relevant stakeholders
