What you'll Build?

At SAP Procurement Engineering, our mission is to build the world’s leading cloud-based spend management solution by unifying procurement capabilities across SAP S/4HANA, SAP Ariba, SAP Business Network, and SAP Fieldglass.

To strengthen our AI capabilities, we are looking for a Data Scientist who will design and build Agentic AI solutions for S/4HANA public cloud Procurement. In this role, you will help create intelligent procurement assistants that analyze enterprise procurement data, generate insights, predict risks, and autonomously trigger actions across procurement workflows.

In this role, you will:

• • Design and develop Agentic AI solutions that power intelligent procurement assistants capable of reasoning, planning, and executing procurement tasks.
  • Build machine learning and predictive models on procurement data to detect anomalies, predict supply risks, optimize purchasing decisions, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop AI agents that monitor procurement processes (purchase requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, supplier confirmations) and proactively recommend or trigger actions.
  • Leverage data from S/4HANA procurement modules, supplier interactions to generate insights and decision intelligence, by leveraging data products
  • Build data pipelines and feature engineering frameworks for procurement analytics using enterprise data platforms.
  • Design and architect LLM-powered assistants that allow users to interact with procurement data using natural language.
  • Work closely with product managers, procurement domain experts, and engineering teams to translate procurement workflows into AI-driven automation and autonomous agents/assistants
  • Build agent orchestration frameworks where multiple agents collaborate to solve procurement problems.
  • Ensure AI solutions are scalable, explainable, and aligned with enterprise compliance, security, and responsible AI principles.
  • Contribute to the AI architecture roadmap for procurement, driving innovation in predictive analytics, autonomous workflows, and decision intelligence.
  • Continuously explore advancements in agentic AI, LLMs, reinforcement learning, and enterprise AI platforms to enhance SAP’s procurement solutions.

What you bring?

• 7+ years of experience in Data Science, AI, or Applied Machine Learning, with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, or related fields.
• Full stack developer with strong expertise in machine learning, statistical modelling, and predictive analytics with experience building production-grade AI applications.
• Hands-on experience with Python, Langraph, Langchain and data science libraries
• Experience working with large-scale enterprise datasets and building data pipelines, feature stores, and model deployment workflows.
• Experience building LLM-powered applications, including prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agent-based architectures.
• Familiarity with Agentic AI frameworks, multi-agent orchestration, and autonomous decision systems.
• Strong knowledge of data engineering concepts, including data pipelines, APIs, and distributed data processing.
• Experience integrating AI models with enterprise platforms and APIs.
• Understanding of responsible AI practices, model explainability, bias mitigation, and governance in enterprise AI systems.
• Strong understanding in agile development processes
• functional knowledge of Procurement/MM or related business domains is an added advantage.
• Ability to lead complex technical problem-solving, drive architectural decisions, and support engineering teams through design reviews, mentoring, and best-practices.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced cloud product environment, with a strong focus on performance, extensibility, maintainability, clean-core compliance, and developer efficiency.
