Lead the Platform Engineering Productivity team to improve developer productivity, CI/CD capabilities, and release pipelines for Elastic engineering. Build roadmaps, disambiguate work, and drive priorities for a globally distributed team of 8 engineers. Act as Incident Commander during major incidents, advocate for processes that improve software quality, and collaborate across the Engineering Productivity and Infrastructure cohorts to evolve the internal developer platform.

What is The Role We are looking for an engineering manager to lead a distributed engineering team in our Engineering Productivity Team. The Platform Engineering Productivity team owns key developer productivity and CI/CD/Release functions for Elastic engineering. Our emerging internal developer platform presents these functions and functions include bootstrapping services, developer environments, CI/CD pipelines, product release pipelines, and Backstage. The team uses a diverse technology stack, including the Argo tool suite (ArgoCD, Argo Events, Argo Workflows), the CueLang language, and various internal Golang projects. What You Will Be Doing Build a roadmap, disambiguate the work, and drive priorities for your team, based on a mid to long-term vision you’ll help develop for the team Manage, mentor, and lead a globally distributed team of 8 engineers, providing frequent feedback and building cohesion in a widely distributed team Advocate, unblock, and represent the team within the organization Actively participate in the wider Engineering Productivity and Infrastructure management cohorts Participate in our Major Incidents on-call rotation as Incident Commander Identify and implement processes that improve team productivity and software quality What You Bring Experience leading diverse teams of software engineers as a line manager (people manager) Experience leading engineering projects that cross engineering teams Experience as a hands-on software engineer and strength in computer science fundamentals to understand the engineering work that is going on in your team Strong written and spoken English communication skills Superb organizational skills, stakeholder management skills, and project management capabilities. Demonstrated ability to drive technical vision, operational rigor, and cross-team collaboration.
