FactSet is hiring a Principal Software Engineer to design and build real-time pricing and reference data delivery systems. The role focuses on low-latency, scalable backends and data pipelines for large datasets, with ownership of production releases and outages. You’ll work with Golang/Python, AWS, and API development, collaborating with product management to deliver real-time market data to FactSet Workstation and internal apps. The role requires 10+ years of software development experience and leadership to guide projects and teams.

Your Team's Impact
Realtime Marketdata Engineering is responsible for integration of all real time or intraday content at FactSet. This includes real time stock exchange feeds as well as real time reference data , OTC and End of the day Prices. This data is delivered to our clients for use within the FactSet Workstation or other internal applications. Realtime Marketdata Engineering has a global presence across multiple regions.
Pricing team is responsible for Building and developing robust , low latency , resilient delivery mechanism of Reference data and End of the Prices across all the content data sets.
What You'll Do
Design , Architect and develop delivery mechanism of large data sets in realtime.
Develop and maintain tools/web-apps to operate on huge data content fetched from different content sets
Work closely with product development team and Product management
Work independently and deliver in a deadline focused environment
Design and develop low latency , resilient system and services
Manage production releases, bug fixes and respond to outages in a time critical fashion
- Participate in peer code reviews, maintaining project/operational documentation and help with training/coaching of less experienced team members
- Independently responsible for significant projects spanning technical or operational boundaries
- Successfully completes high impact projects
- Significantly and constructively impacts the technical and/or operational direction of the department
- Routinely initiates and leads technical or operational discussions
What We're Looking For
10+years of software development experience in Golang/Python
Strong expertise in AWS services (breadth preferred over depth, given evolving architecture)
Should have strong experience in API development.
Experience in designing scalable data pipelines or backend systems.
Thorough understanding of Real-Time platform architecture and large-scale distributed systems
Various data repository technologies and proper use cases for each Production level support as well as knowledge transfer/training of lesser tenure employees.
Knowledge of advanced programming techniques (Low Latency, Resiliency, Network Programming, Data Structures and Algorithms, Memory Management and File Management)
Strong communication skills both verbally and written for interaction with engineering and non-engineering groups
Need to be able to convey requirements, identify obstacles, and define goals across the team.
Computer science background/education to design fast, memory-efficient, scalable, maintainable and resilient applications specific to
Leadership skills to guide and influence others to produce high-quality software in an efficient and cohesive way
Business knowledge to make sure our software addresses corporate needs and workflows in the best way possible, and knowledge of real time and high-frequency trading systems, financial instruments and market dynamics to design software that meets the specific needs of trading environments
Time/resource management and planning skills to balance requirements from different product developers
Ensure that tasks are completed on time in relation to their priorities, and clients see improvements to our software consistently
Problem-solving, quick-thinking to come up with solutions to problems that may come up that need to be fixed immediately due to impact on employees and employee workflows.
