Lead Software Engineer on the Infrastructure Platforms team responsible for design, development, testing and integration of the end-to-end Service Registry product. Drive technical direction, development best practices, code reviews, and mentor early-career engineers while overseeing delivery from development to production including security, DR, and day-two operations. Work with cloud-native technologies (AWS, Terraform), Kubernetes, Golang/Java, CI/CD and observability tooling to build secure, automated, scalable platform services.

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Infrastructure Platforms team, you will be part of design, development, testing and integration of the end to end Service Registry product. The Service Registry feature team is responsible for adhering to firm-wide architectural design standards risk management security policies and data management policies. The candidate will drive the team with setting strategic technology directions development best practices and will also conduct peer code reviews. The candidate will support all elements of the Software Development Lifecycle and participate in the development of integration elements data models and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).

Job responsibilities

 

  • Design, develop, and operate solutions for a cloud computing platform with integrated security, auditability, and observability.
  • Develop secure, high-quality production code, review, and debug code written by others.
  • Lead and manage operations for all product offerings for Service Registry.
  • Mentor and empower a team of early-career engineers to deliver high-quality solutions while fostering their growth and development.
  • Oversee all aspects of project delivery from development to production, including cyber security reviews, architectural reviews, disaster recovery activities, and day two operations and support.
  • Define and build value-added services on the platform using cloud-native principles.
  • Create technical designs for the development and integration of new software and system technologies.
  • Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture.
  • Understand technical requirements from clients and stakeholders, and prioritize them accordingly in sprints; adapt and provide tactical and strategic solutions as needed.
  • Participate in software and system performance analysis and tuning, service capacity planning, and demand forecasting.
  • Drive technical innovation and efficiency in infrastructure operations by developing tools and automation

    Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

     

    • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience   

    • Possess relevant years of development experience building and delivering large systems.
    • Demonstrate expert-level proficiency with at least one programming language such as Golang or Java.
    • Apply hands-on practical experience in the public cloud (AWS) and Terraform.
    • Write automated tests using languages such as Python or shell scripting.
    • Demonstrate experience in system and networking.
    • Apply expertise in Kubernetes.
    • Utilize git and CI/CD tools like Jenkins.
    • Leverage experience in Service Registry technology.
    • Utilize experience with load testing tools such as Blazemeter.
    • Analyze and troubleshoot complex problems in systems at scale.
     
     

    Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Demonstrate proficiency in both Golang and Java.
  • Apply experience with Service Registry technology.
  • Utilize experience with load testing tools such as Blazemeter.
  • Deliver innovative solutions by researching and evaluating alternate technologies.
