In the Amazon Fire TV team, we are creating the most engaging entertainment platform for the whole family, worldwide. Be part of a fast-paced, agile and innovative team who is delivering new experiences to Fire TV devices in a startup like environment.

We are looking for a passionate, talented Software Development Engineer who can drive key engineering and business decisions that impact Amazon’s long-term vision, including innovation in the delivery and consumption of media and entertainment. In this development role, you will have an enormous opportunity to make a large impact on the design, architecture, and implementation of state of the art products used every day, by people you know.

As a Software Development Engineer in the team, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative consumer products by developing and integrating Android based features and applications.

Key job responsibilities

The development of new Android innovative features and applications and initiatives across the organization.
Investigate, prototype, and deliver new and innovative software applications.
Deliver high quality software through working in a diverse, team-focused Agile/Scrum environment.
Instill best practices for software development and documentation, assure designs meet requirements, and deliver quality work
Support the development activities by being onsite with the partners and vendors.

We work in a way that works for us, with Scrum ceremonies and agile ways of working. The team review how we work during retrospectives and by periodically discussing our team 'ways of working'.

Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- 3+ years of Android development experience

Preferred Qualifications

- 7+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience of working in Live TV/Set-top Box/Smart TV domain
