Lead mobile engineer responsible for designing, building, and shipping native iOS and Android applications, and delivering secure, scalable cloud-native solutions. You will write and review production-quality code, integrate with APIs and distributed systems, and implement CI/CD, resiliency, and security controls. The role involves technical leadership activities such as vendor evaluations, driving communities of practice, and automating operational remediation to improve stability. This position is within JPMorgan Chase's Consumer & Community Banking organization and requires collaboration within agile teams.

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the CONSUMER & COMMUNITY BANKING, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

 

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

 

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied backend engineering experience
  • Experience building and shipping iOS applications using Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, Foundation, CocoaTouch, Core Data; ability to use Xcode tools including Instruments, Debug Memory Graph, and Debug View Hierarchy; experience with Swift Package Manager
  • Experience building and shipping Android applications using Kotlin, Android SDK, Jetpack, Jetpack Compose, XML layouts, and Gradle; ability to use Android Studio profiling tools
  • Hands-on experience building and operating cloud‑native applications
  • Experience with API integration and distributed systems, including implementing caching strategies and data persistence solutions
  • Experience delivering across the full Software Development Life Cycle with automation and CI/CD (design, development, testing, deployment, and production operations), including build and pipeline tooling such as Gradle, Jenkins, and Swift Package Manager; experience implementing resiliency and security controls
  • Experience working within the financial services industry and its IT systems

     

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
 
  • Experience with cross‑platform mobile frameworks (e.g., React Native, Flutter)
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and practices for mobile (e.g., unit, UI, integration)
  • Experience with performance tuning, profiling, and observability for mobile applications
  • Experience implementing advanced security controls for mobile applications and working with compliance requirements
  • Experience with additional programming languages or backend services that interface with mobile applications
  • Carry out critical tech solutions across multiple technical areas as an integral part of an agile team
