Senior Android software engineer role on an agile Commercial & Community Bank team at JPMorgan Chase, focused on designing and delivering secure, scalable mobile applications. Responsible for producing high-quality production code, architecture and design artifacts, and troubleshooting complex technical issues. Requires hands-on experience with Kotlin, Java, RxJava, LiveData, RESTful APIs, unit and functional testing, and mobile UI fundamentals. Contributes to continuous improvement through data-driven insights and participates in engineering communities of practice.

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Community Bank, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job responsibilities:
- Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
- Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems
- Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development
- Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
- Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
- Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
- Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience. In addition 5+ years experience in Java and android.
- Customer-focused mindset, taking pride in creating an informative data-driven journey.
- Ability to understand requirements and translate them to efficient code.
- Past experience in Kotlin, RxJava, LiveData, all mobile UI fundamentals, from layout to animations, and Restful API integration is expected.
- Experience in Unit testing and functional testing libraries like Mockito , Espresso.
- Experience with distributed systems, caching, and persistence solutions.
- Ability to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues under time pressure.
- Experience building localized, multi-tenant solutions.
- A Strong experience with Data Structures and Multi-Threading.
- Understanding of architectural patterns such as MVP and MVVM, application design patterns – Gang of Four patterns.
- Understanding of build systems such as Gradle, Jenkins.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Familiarity with modern front-end technologies
- Exposure to cloud technologies
- Enthusiasm for automated testing
- Strong understanding of java and android ecosystem
- 5+ years experience designing and implementing applications
- Degree in Computer Science or related degree from an accredited university or four years equivalent development experience.
