Join Amazon Dev Center as a Software Development Engineer III (multiple positions) in Herndon, VA to design and drive large-scale, multi-tier distributed applications using Java and C/C++. Position: Software Dev Engineer III (multiple positions available)
Location: Herndon, VA

Multiple Positions Available:

(1) Drive the architecture and design of large-scale, multi-tiered, distributed software applications, tools, systems and services using object-oriented design, distributed programming, Java and C/C++.
(2) Gather business and functional requirements from external and/or internal customers and end-users, and translate requirements into technical specifications to build robust, scalable, supportable solutions that work well between a range of complex systems.
(3) Serve as technical lead throughout the full development lifecycle, end-to-end, from scoping, planning, conception, design, implementation and testing, to documentation, delivery and maintenance.
(4) Provide design reviews for other engineers, including feedback on architecture and design issues, as well as integration, performance and scalability.
(5) Manage resources on multiple technical projects and ensure schedules, milestones, and priorities are compatible with technology and business goals.

(40 hours / week, 8:00am-5:00pm, Salary Range $175,427 – $227,400/year)

Basic Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered, software development or engineering, or a related occupation. Employer will accept 2 years of experience in the job offered, software development or engineering, or a related occupation in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree, plus 4 years of experience in the job offered, software development or engineering, or a related occupation.

Must have experience with each of the following skills:

(1) 3 years of programming experience with one of the following languages: C++, C#, or Java.
(2) 2 years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
(3) Any amount of experience with algorithm design and data structures.
(4) Any amount of experience developing objected-oriented software.
(5) Any amount of experience providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle.
