Join AWS End User Messaging as a Software Development Engineer to design, build, launch, and support customer-facing APIs, backend infrastructure, and console experiences. Our services are built primarily in Java, with a TypeScript/React AWS console, delivering large-scale messaging across channels such as WhatsApp, Push, SMS, and Voice. You will tackle front-end/back-end integration, design for reliability and scalability, and leverage GenAI to generate production-quality code and automated processes. You will contribute to the End User Messaging Social (WhatsApp) initiative and help iterate as customer demand grows.
AWS End User Messaging is hiring a software engineer to help accomplish this vision. We build and operate large scale messaging systems enabling developers to reach their customers via WhatsApp, Push (Apple, Google), SMS, and Voice. Chances are quite high you've received notifications that we've handled; we've delivered notifications at scale on behalf of our customers for everything from Prime Day, to COVID-19 test results, to major news events. Our newest channel, End User Messaging Social (WhatsApp), launched in 2024 and we're continuing to iterate and innovate as customer demand increases.

Key job responsibilities
We are looking for people that are self-driven, able to deal with ambiguity, passionate about innovating, enjoy working on challenging front-end/back-end integration problems, and motivated to learn about a broad set of technologies. Comfort and skill using GenAI to generate production-quality code and automated processes is preferred.
As an End User Messaging engineer, you will work with the team to design, build, launch and support customer facing APIs, backend infrastructure, and console experiences. Our services are built primarily in Java, along with a Typescript/React AWS console.

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
