Experienced Software Development Engineer with production-grade services in a fast-paced environment. You will design, implement, and deliver high-quality, extensible software for distributed systems, mentoring junior engineers and guiding priorities. You will optimize performance, scalability, and efficiency while collaborating across AWS teams to build the AWS Intent Driven Networking management plane that scales the network fabric. This role offers the opportunity to influence the operation of one of the largest networks on the planet for the next decade.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the AWS cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Key job responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced Software Development Engineer with production quality software services experience. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where delivery of new services and features is very rapid. You are adaptable, capable of excelling in a dynamic and entrepreneurial setting. You will be responsible for delivering high quality, extensible design and code. You are expected to mentor and guide junior engineers. You are comfortable managing competing priorities and are able to bring order to ambiguous scenarios. You identify and implement optimizations for performance, scalability, and efficiency. Maturity, impeccable judgment, and the ability to influence and lead are essential to success in this role. You are data-driven and analytical. You have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, across organizations.

About the team
You will be part of a team working on AWS Intent Driven Networking. A key part of this project is building a management plane which the network fabric teams will use to scale and manage the networks.
