Join the VASTech ARES team at Amazon as a Software Development Engineer responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and supporting scalable real-time distributed systems that regionalize platform features across marketplaces. You will own end-to-end systems, collaborate with multiple platform teams, and help drive the build-operate-transfer model to deliver impact at scale for customers worldwide. The role emphasizes solving complex problems, strong software design, and delivering high-quality software with attention to customer experience.

Do you want to work on pioneering technology, solve new problems that didn’t exist before, and have the ability to see the impact of your contributions?

Amazon is growing, and so is our team, looking for SDE who moves fast, is capable of cracking and solving complex problems, and has a strong will to get things done. SDEs at Amazon work on real world problems on a global scale, own their systems end to end and influence the direction of our technology that impacts hundreds of millions customers around the world.

The VASTech ARES (Amazon Regionalization Execution Service) team collaborates with multiple platform teams to align on roadmap intakes, secure leadership commitment, and facilitate contributions through the build-operate-transfer model. Additionally, the team is responsible for tracking regionalization efforts independently managed by these platform teams.

ARES/RFO was launched in US marketplace in Q1 2022. ARES has since been rolled-out in multiple emerging marketplaces. While the overall regionalization requirements are broadly similar across marketplaces, each marketplace has specific nuances that need incremental features. Each feature has to be designed and built with WW applicability in mind to enable economies of scope and to ensure development done for one marketplace can benefit all others. These considerations are often technically complex and influence the data model and architecture of the solution. As a member of this team your mission will be to design, develop, deploy, document and support scalable and distributed real time systems.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Bachelor's degree or above in computer science, computer engineering, or related field, or Master's degree or equivalent
- Knowledge of data structures, data modeling, and database schema
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
- Experience in Database like NoSQL, or experience in SQL Server/MySQL and experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
- 2+ years industry experience in developing and launching production grade software
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
- Obsession with quality and customer experience
- Attention to detail coupled with ability to think abstractly

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence
- Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs
- Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
