Join the Video Edge team responsible for ingesting hundreds of thousands of live video creators and distributing streams to millions of viewers worldwide. You will design, build, and maintain backend distributed systems that operate at global scale and low latency. You will work with data analysts, product managers, and other engineers to shape the future of the IVS video stack, including traffic shaping, deployment, and automation. You will implement new live video features, CDN innovations, and security infrastructure to protect resources.
You’ll join a diverse team of software and network engineers, product managers, security experts, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. About the Role
This position is on the Video Edge team, responsible for the ingestion from hundreds of thousands of live video creators, as well as the distribution worldwide to millions of viewers. As an engineer on this team, you will be focused on designing, building, and maintaining robust, scalable systems that enable our customers to ingest and watch live video. Key job responsibilities
- Partner with data analysts, product managers, technical leads, and other engineers to design, develop, launch, and operate distributed systems at scale.
- Help define the future of the Amazon IVS video stack, including traffic shaping, infrastructure deployment, and infrastructure automation.
- Build novel video features to improve the interactivity of live video streaming
- Collaborate with our team and partner teams and fostering a shared understanding of how to solve common problems and deliver solutions
- Design, implement, and deploy new live video features including dynamic slates and video advertisements
- Design, implement, and deploy new CDN features such as intelligest traffic shaping, traffic simulation, and custom domain names.
- Design, implement, and deploy new security infrastructure, protecting our resources from malicious threat vectors.
About the team
IVS processes a massive amount of live video channels and distributes them using the largest dedicated live video CDN in the world, delivering over 25Tbps to more than 5 million concurrent viewers. In addition to serving Twitch traffic, our video platform is offered as Amazon Interactive Video Service, an AWS service that allows the creation of a live video streaming platform with only a few lines of code. Engineers with our Video Team work across a range of areas including ingest, transcoding, and distribution with the lowest latency high-scale HLS distribution system in the world.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 2+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
- 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience- Experience implementing AWS services in a variety of distributed computing environments

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
