In this role, you’ll play a critical role in reshaping regulatory technology and strengthening the future of banking. This role sits at the heart of the TRACE migration to OneReg, working closely with Credit Technology, TTRO regulatory experts, and OneReg SMEs to deliver a strategic, firm wide regulatory platform. You’ll gain extensive practical exposure to Java, Python, microservices architecture, and in memory data grids such as GridGain, while contributing to a high impact program that directly supports regulatory compliance, scalability, and innovation at Barclays.
To be successful as a Senior Java Developer - AVP, you should:
Considerable system design and architecture expertise, with practical experience using Core Java and Spring Boot to build and support high volume, low latency platforms, including Kafka-based high throughput messaging systems and large scale batch processing and streaming solutions
Proficiency in JVM-based technologies, covering performance tuning, memory management, garbage collection optimization, and diagnosing production issues, along with solid experience integrating MS SQL for transactional and analytical workloads
Solid understanding of distributed systems, including scalability, fault tolerance, resiliency, and event driven architectures leveraging Kafka for reliable data streaming and integration
Proven ability to work independently and be forward thinking, taking end to end ownership of complex systems built with Java/Spring Boot, collaborating across teams, and driving projects from design through production support
Ample communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences; prior experience in Operations Technology, Regulatory Reporting, or Trade Capture environments is highly desirable
Other highly valued skills include:
Practical experience with modern messaging and integration platforms, including: Solace, Apache Kafka ,Spring Integration, Apache Ignite / GridGain
Experience with distributed databases and in memory data grids, supporting high availability and horizontal scalability. Ample working knowledge of relational database systems, with preference for Microsoft SQL Server
Working knowledge and exposure to Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Agentic AI concepts, with the ability to identify practical, value driven use cases in enterprise systems.
Awareness of how AI driven solutions can enhance operational efficiency, monitoring, analytics, and decision making in large scale platforms
Experience leveraging Python for data processing, automation, or integration use cases is preferred

Minimum Salary: $120,000
Maximum Salary: $175,000
The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above includes only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

- Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
