As a Chapter Lead, you’ll embody a rare combination of technical expertise and people leadership. This role combines hands-on coding with strategic leadership to drive impactful results in risk IT operations.

In Commerzbank Digital Technology Centre Prague, we are transforming a traditional bank into a digital agile enterprise! We provide a wide range of various IT solutions, .Net and Java development, services in the area of application operation and infrastructure. As a part of Commerzbank Group, we work closely together with the Delivery Organisation of more than 50 different Clusters in our Headquarter in Frankfurt and around the globe.
The Cluster Valuations / Market & Liquidity Risk plays a pivotal role in supporting our risk management function in achieving their vision of a holistic and strategic risk management. We focus on the development and operation of advanced, state-of-the-art systems, working in close collaboration with our colleagues in risk management. Our teams operate within agile frameworks, spanning both Prague and Frankfurt.

Your tasks
As a Chapter Lead, you’ll embody a rare combination of technical expertise and people leadership. Not only will you mentor and guide a high-performing team of developers, but you’ll also contribute directly to important technical initiatives. - Team Leadership: Inspire, support, and mentor team members, fostering a growth-oriented and collaborative culture while maintaining top-tier technical and professional standards.
- Hands-On Contribution: Partner with your team to design, develop, and refine backend systems, applications, and databases essential to our operations.
- Knowledge Sharing: Build a culture of continuous learning by encouraging knowledge exchange across teams and staying on top of industry trends.
- Collaboration: Work closely with product owners to ensure optimal staffing for cross-functional projects and promote seamless teamwork.
- Agility Advocate: Champion agile practices with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and service quality.
- Performance & Compliance: Deliver results by meeting productivity targets while adhering to regulatory and compliance standards.
Your profile
We’re looking for a dynamic leader who thrives at the intersection of leadership and technical innovation.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Technical Mastery: Proven experience in software development (e.g., Java, Python) or database management (e.g. Oracle). Familiarity with DevOps tools, cloud platforms (e.g., Google, Azure), and modern architecture is preferred but not required.
- Business Skills: plus is an experience in financial markets, banking, ideally risk management
- Effective Leadership: A track record of building collaborative teams that consistently deliver strong results.
- Active Contribution: A leadership style that embraces a hands-on approach to troubleshooting, programming, and optimization.
- Strong Collaboration Skills: Excellent communication skills to work cross-functionally across diverse teams and geographies.
- Resilience & Adaptability: The ability to pivot and solve problems in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English (Czech and German is a plus).
- Relevant Background: A degree or equivalent training in IT, finance, engineering, or related technical fields.
