ING Hubs Romania is hiring experienced Java Dev Engineers to develop and maintain low-latency FX and Money Markets trading and pricing platforms. You will design and implement new features, perform code reviews and testing, and work closely with eTraders and the algo-trading team in London. The role involves working in an agile environment, addressing production issues, and improving system performance and reliability. Strong core Java, multithreading, design patterns and CI/CD experience are required.

The Mission
ING is looking for driven Java Dev Engineers, with a focus on quality and delivery, to work on the FX and Money Markets trading platforms. The in-house built high-performance pricing systems and interfaces, together with the vendor-built trading/quoting systems, time-series databases and complex event processing engines are key platforms for the real-time low-latency landscape in scope of the growing Financial Markets domain.
ING is using this environment to connect to a large amount of trading exchanges worldwide to offer the sharpest pricing quotes and executions to our clients. Therefore, these systems are on dedicated infrastructure in special data centers located in close proximity to the key markets.
The Development team consists currently of 4 developers (3 engineers and one Front Office Quant) in Bucharest working directly with the algotrading team from London.
Your day to day
Even if youโll start your day from the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee in our officeโs garden, your day will be quite similar when comes to tasks. Here are your daily responsibilities:
Delivery and Improvements:
- Design and develop new features from scratch and improve existing ones;
- Do code reviews, write unit tests, make code refactoring and take care of technical debt;
- Align and discuss solutions directly with eTraders;
- Work in an agile environment, based on a lot of research, collaboration and "learn from failure" way of working, with highly impactful deliveries;
- Have a direct impact on the business improvements through developing and being part of the strategic deliveries;
- Provide hands-on support to colleagues when investigating production issues/outages.
What youโll bring to the team
- Experience: 5+ years of industry experience in IT (dev);
- Tech stack/ knowledge:
- Mandatory:
- Understanding of Continuous Delivery concepts. Interactions with tools such as Git, Azure DevOps, Maven;
- Experience with building services from scratch and developing on top of existing components;
- Experience with the entire software development life cycle;
- Strong design (patterns), algorithms and data structures knowledge;
- Highly proficient development skills โ core server-side Java, multi-threading;
- Nice to have:
- Experience with managing full-stack vendor packages, and additionally (low latency) infrastructural stack knowledge.
- Experience or affinity with IT Risk & Security concepts.
- Experience with messaging technologies and protocols.
- Experience in optimizing software for performance.
- Banking/Financial Markets products/processes knowledge (FX Products, FIX protocol).
- Flexibility in development technologies. Expected to work with different technologies and languages (KDB, Proprietary Software, Java, Python).
- Experience with quant development, pricing algorithms or trading strategies;
- Foreign languages: English (advanced).
- Education: nice to have Bachelorโs Degree (or higher) in an IT related field.
