Join ING Hubs Romania as a Java Engineer focused on Business Banking. You’ll write well-designed, testable Java 11+ code and develop new microservices, collaborating with other squads to integrate them with the team assets. You’ll actively contribute to the architectural design of microservices, participate in planning, code reviews, and comprehensive testing (unit, integration, performance). You’ll help drive continuous improvements, prepare deployment documentation, and support the software after release in a flexible, collaborative environment.

The Mission
The Customer Data Area within ING Bank NL. The products and services of Customer Data are essential for the everyday financial needs of our customers. Without access to data of our customers for all customer journeys in the bank, customer cannot see their data, perform a transaction on their (current) account, close a mortgage or get a business loan; all journeys would fail without access to data of our customers. To ensure our customers are in control, we also enable a smooth administration of their personal data (name, address, etc) and the roles and mandates. We do so for businesses and private individuals. We are responsible for the development of the web features for offering best in-class digital experience to our customers. Within Customer Data our teams are responsible for all digital flows to manage customer data via self-service or via assisted services. Therefore, one can truly state: the products and services from the Customer Data are at the oxygen of all customer interactions with the bank.
Your day to day
Even if you’ll start your day from the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee in our office’s garden, your day will be quite similar when comes to tasks. Here are your daily responsibilities:
Write well designed testable, efficient code in a Java 11 or upper versions;
Develop new microservices and offer support for other squads to integrate them with the team assets
Actively involved in the architectural design of the microservices;
Workload estimations during the planning sessions;
The team is the asset owner, take care of codebase by applying comprehensive code review, advising, and couching younglings
Test the application from all angles! (Unit, integration, functional, performance, load / stress)
Investigate and give resolutions for defects (in test, acceptance or production environments);
Brainstorm with the team over continuous improvements of the development process;
Create and/or release documents to support the deployments and the software after the release
What you’ll bring to the team
Experience: minimum 5 years of experience;
Tech stack/ knowledge:
Mandatory: REST APIs in Java, SpringBoot, Spring testing libraries; Experience with coaching and motivating team members; Experienced in working in a complex environment, Agile methods and Software development frameworks
Nice to have: Microservices, Azure DevOps, Docker
Foreign languages: English (advanced)
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in an IT related field - mandatory
