Senior hands-on technical lead for JPMorgan Chase's Card Cobrand Technology team, responsible for designing, developing, and operating scalable Java/Spring applications on AWS with Kafka-based streaming. You will deliver secure, production-quality code, drive system design and operational stability, and lead evaluation of vendor and architectural solutions. The role includes driving automation across the SDLC, promoting CI/CD and resiliency best practices, and mentoring/leading engineering communities of practice. It is a high-visibility position interfacing with business partners to own critical card co-brand initiatives.

As an AWS Lead Software Engineer- Java/Spring/Kafka at JPMorgan Chase within Consumer and Community Banking's Card Cobrand Technology Team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.


Job responsibilities  


•    Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
•    Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
•    Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
•    Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
•    Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
•    Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect
 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills  


•    Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience  
•    Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
•    Advanced in one or more programming language(s), including Java and Spring frameworks
•    Hands-on experience using Kafka for building and managing real-time data streaming applications, including configuring topics, producers, and consumers, and ensuring reliable message delivery
•    Hands-on practical experience using AWS cloud services, including designing, deploying, and managing scalable cloud infrastructure with services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, step functions and VPC
•    Proficiency in automation at various stages of SDLC and continuous delivery methods
•    Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
•    Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
•    Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
•    In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
•    Possesses AWS Developer or Architect Associate certification, demonstrating validated expertise in designing, developing, and deploying applications on AWS cloud platforms


Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills


•    Experience in front-end tools such as React, Angular, etc.
•    Experience with scripting tools, BDD tools for automation
•    Strong fundamentals in data structures and algorithms
•    Experience implementing high throughput, low latency software applications
•    Experience with application performance monitoring and tunning at JVM level
•    Knowledge of observability toolset and metrics extraction

 

Own and drive high visibility critical initiatives for card co-brand partners as a hands on tech lead and act as a technical backbone
