Senior backend engineer role on the US Payments Technology team within JPMorgan Chase's Commercial & Investment Bank, responsible for designing and delivering secure, scalable production services. - Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting, with the ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications, while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met during software code development.Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets to support continuous improvement of software applications and systems.Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements in coding hygiene and system architecture.Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies.Adds to a team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.Experience implementing solutions using Java, Spring Boot, SQL, React, design patterns, microservices, Kafka, and cloud-native architecture.Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.Demonstrable ability to code in Java.Experience across the entire Software Development Life Cycle.Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.Emerging knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Exposure to AI, including using Python, AI tools, and Copilot in VS Code/IntelliJ.Knowledge of containerization and container runtime/orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS, etc.).Knowledge of messaging systems such as Kafka.Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases.
Carry out critical tech solutions across multiple technical areas as an integral part of an agile team
