Lead Software Engineer in JPMorgan Chase's Asset and Wealth Management division, working as an experienced member of an agile team to design and deliver secure, scalable technology products. The role involves developing production-grade Java applications with Spring Boot, integrating with cloud-native architectures on AWS, and driving architecture and design artifacts. You will collaborate with product teams, perform design/code reviews, and analyze large data sets to continuously improve software applications and systems. As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Asset and Wealth Management, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Demonstrate experience in working with and influencing senior business and technology collaborates.
  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
  • Carry out design reviews/code reviews at agreed points throughout the project life cycle
  • Creates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development.
  • Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems
  • Work closely with the product team to understand the business requirements and user acceptance testing teams to support during UAT phase.
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture
  • Have a defined goal based approach and adhere to committed timelines.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5 years applied experience, Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Strong skills around object oriented analysis and design (OOAD), data structures, algorithms, design patterns
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Proficient in coding in Java 17, Spring Boot, and SQL Databases
  • Advanced in two or more technologies – Functional Programming, BPMN, Microservices, RESTful webservices development, JMS, Kafka, Hibernate
  • Experience with JDBC/JPBA frameworks such as Hibernate or MyBatis.
  • Cloud – Strong Hands-on Cloud Native Architecture - Azure / AWS, Containerization / Kubernetes
  • Solid understanding of agile methodologies, CI/CD, Non-Functional requirements like Resiliency, performance and Security.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)

  • Independent and self-motivated
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exposure to cloud technologies
