Lead Software Engineer on Chase Card Services Acquisitions Product team responsible for designing, developing, and delivering secure, scalable Java-based solutions in an agile product delivery model. Acts as a core technical contributor driving system design, production-quality code, technical troubleshooting, and vendor evaluations. Works with microservices, APIs, cloud, Kafka, Cassandra and DevOps tooling to improve operational stability and automate delivery. Mentors engineering communities of practice and promotes inclusion within the team.

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking's card technology team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Chase Card Services is looking for a Lead Software Engineer to work on our Acquisitions Product team delivering in an agile product-based delivery model. This team is focused on delivering business outcomes faster with cross functional feature teams aligned to Area Product Owners. 

 

Job responsibilities

 

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

 

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

 

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
  • Advanced in one or more programming language(s) : Java 
  • Experience in delivering solutions in large scale software development using modern technology (e.g. Java, Cassandra, Kafka) and design patterns (e.g. microservices, APIs) is must 
  • Proficiency in Java, Spring frameworks, REST API, Cloud, Micro services is required 
  • Strong experience in modern software development lifecycle with DEVOPS mentality and test driven development approaches. Hands-on experience in automating builds, deploys, monitoring and alerts. Experience and deep familiarity with Jenkins, Splunk, Dynatrace etc. or any other tools/technologies of similar function.
  • Experience with the following development and build tools (or similar): IntelliJ/Eclipse, Maven, BitBucket/Git/Gitflow, JMeter/Pasta/Blazemeter, Spring Framework, Hibernate, Spring Batch, Spring Boot, MVC and Spring Cloud is required 
  • Experience in Unix Shell Scripts, API Gateways, Apache Kafka, Cassandra, NoSQL is needed
  • Advanced knowledge of application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems

     

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
 
  • Experience with large legacy platform decomposition, mainframe, Hadoop, Hive a plus.
Carry out critical tech solutions across multiple technical areas as an integral part of an agile team
