Senior technical contributor on an agile Home Lending team at JPMorgan Chase responsible for designing, developing, and delivering secure, high-quality production software. You'll build and review code (Java 17+, Spring Boot), run POCs for new technologies, and drive best practices for AI integration, CI/CD, resiliency, and security. The role requires hands-on work with enterprise technologies such as Kafka, Elasticsearch, distributed caches, and familiarity with ML/NLP and LLMs. You will also focus on automation to improve operational stability and mentor peers to maintain high engineering standards.

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking - Home Lending, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.
Job responsibilities
- Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
- Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
- Sets up and manages POC's to evaluate the feasibility and impact of new technologies and methodologies, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements.
- Drives the adoption of best practices in software development and AI integration, ensuring high standards of quality, security, and efficiency are maintained across all projects.
- Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.
- Understands machine learning principles, especially in natural language processing (NLP) and deep learning, to effectively work with LLMs.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Proficient in coding in one or more object-orientated languages, including Java17+ with Spring Boot
- Advanced knowledge of software application development and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, etc.)
- Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
- Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, etc.)
- Experience in building enterprise applications with high availability and performance using Java, Python, Spring, Kafka, Elastic Search, Distributed Cache.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience working at code level.
- A keen interest in staying ahead of modern development trends and experimenting with emerging technologies such as AI and Machine Learning.
