Senior technical contributor within the Payments team responsible for designing, building, and delivering scalable Java-based, cloud-native applications. Lead and mentor one or two scrum teams, drive technical solutions, perform code reviews, and assist with day-to-day developer blockers. Work with cross-functional stakeholders to plan deliverables, run proofs-of-concept, and ensure 24x7x365 reliability for mission-critical payment systems.

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Payments team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

 

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Designs and implements high-quality, scalable, and robust Java-based applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, and business analysts, to ensure that our software solutions meet the needs of our clients and align with our strategic goals.
  • Leads and mentors one or two scrum teams – working on cloud native application design.
  • Assists developers in their day to day activities like reviewing low level design solutions, code reviews and talk to business analysts/information architects/Project Managers to resolve blockers for developers.
  • Carries out ‘Proof of Concepts’ and publish white papers for technical solutions. 
  • Manages stakeholders, negotiate, influence and drive the conversation / meeting and getting consensus from all stakeholders. 
  • Plans technical deliverables by identifying, analyzing and documenting technical solutions and meeting the delivery schedule and quality.

 

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

 

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Strong technical skills and a hands on experience is a must in ore Java and related technologies
  • Experience in distributed messaging technology like Kafka, IBM MQ, etc. and enterprise scale messaging experience in JMS or derived JMS technologies.
  • Experience in database design and working knowledge on Oracle.
  • Experience in AWS cloud and Kubernetes.
  • Strong experience in test automation and continuous integration and continuous delivery practices. 
  • Should have worked with the micro-services based highly scalable systems. 
  • Should be strong in principles needed for creating asynchronous and multithreaded system.
  • Should have experience in creating highly scalable, reliable and robust systems which are 24x7x365 available.

     

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
 
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps practices.
  • Banking domain knowledge with a preference for payment systems.
  • Very good written and verbal communication skills.
