As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank's Equities Prime Finance Technology team , you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and supporting technology solutions for a high-profile fast-growing business area within the Prime Finance Services group. You will collaborate with global teams and business partners to deliver scalable, efficient, and innovative solutions that drive the firm’s strategic objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, and support a wide range of ongoing and new projects on the Global Portfolio Swap platform.
  • Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting, thinking beyond routine approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
  • Create secure and high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
  • Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of software solutions.
  • Support Production, Simulation, QA, and Development environments.
  • Work with the team to design, develop, and maintain various pricing systems.
  • Drive innovation and adoption of best practices within the team.
  • Enhance existing systems by analyzing business objectives, preparing action plans, and identifying areas for modification and improvement.
  • Manage defect tracking systems, resolve issues, and prepare updates for systems.
  • Collaborate effectively within the broader global teams, communicating clearly with colleagues in multiple global offices.
  • Build strong working relationships with other teams and business partners across Product Development, Front Office, Middle Office Operations, Finance, Legal, and other JPMorgan functional areas to deliver competitive, efficient, and scalable product solutions.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
  • Hands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability. Good understanding of full software lifecycle development processes, including Agile.
  • Strong experience in Java, Spring, multithreading, REST, Data Caching Services, DB schema design, and data access technologies.
  • Knowledge of automated testing methodologies/frameworks (e.g., JUnit, TDD, BDD).
  • Hands-on experience in Oracle Database, SQL, and PL/SQL, including writing Stored Procedures.
  • Previous experience designing ecosystems for Web applications & API Platforms.
  • Experience in building, orchestrating, and deploying highly scalable REST-based stateless APIs/web services for web applications.
  • Strong object-oriented design and programming skills, with knowledge of common design patterns.
  • Familiarity with build tools (e.g., Maven), continuous integration tools (e.g., Hudson), version control systems (e.g., Git or SVN).
  • Proficient in UNIX, Linux, and MS Windows; skilled in UNIX Shell and Perl scripting.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience with Public Cloud Technologies (AWS).
  • Experience with streaming solution like Kafka and messaging queues like Web Sphere MQ is advantageous.
  • Experience working on at least one major, technically challenging global project.
  • Experience in financial markets, with knowledge of equity swaps and synthetic prime brokerage highly desirable.
