Lead and manage a team of software engineers within Payments Engineering, overseeing day-to-day implementation, compliance, and delivery of production software. As a Manager of Software Engineering at JPMorganChase within the Payments Engineering organization, you lead a team of engineers and manage day-to-day implementation activities by identifying and escalating issues and ensuring your team’s work adheres to compliance standards, business requirements, and tactical best practices.

Job responsibilities

  • Provides guidance to immediate team of software engineers on daily tasks and activities
  • Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
  • Sets the overall guidance and expectations for team output, practices, and collaboration
  • Anticipates dependencies with other teams to deliver products and applications in line with business requirements
  • Manages stakeholder relationships and the team’s work in accordance with compliance standards, service level agreements, and business requirements
  • Creates a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect for the team members and prioritizes diverse representation

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience leading technology projects and managing technologists
  • Proficient in automation and continuous delivery methods
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • Practical cloud native experience including containerization and Kubernetes
  • Experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and expertise in technology disciplines

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
  • Experience working at code level in one or more programming language(s):  Java, Python
  • Passion for building inclusive, secure, and high-performing collaboration environments
  • Systems and database experience, with an understanding of the challenges involved in designing and building distributed/microservice environments
  • Knowledge or experience of scalable technologies such as Kafka
